Michael E. Ernst, PharmD; BCGP, FCCP, AHSCP-CHC
Dr. Ernst is a Clinical Professor in the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, and in the Department of Family and Community Medicine in the Carver College of Medicine. He received his PharmD from Iowa in 1997, followed by a specialty residency in Family Medicine. He is board certified in geriatric pharmacy and is a certified Hypertension Clinician. Dr. Ernst’s research focuses on medication use in older adults and the pharmacotherapy of hypertension, and is conducted at the local, national, and international levels. He was an investigator in some of the earliest NHLBI-funded studies examining pharmacist-physician co-management of hypertension and part of the executive leadership of the ASPREE trial. He currently serves on the advisory board for the AHA/AMA Target:BP initiative and is on the AHA Hypertension Subcommittee for Outpatient Quality Improvement.
